Topic: Preparing Your Business For a Successful Sale Michael L. Nikolich serves as chief marketing officer for SmithBucklin. Nikolich founded Tech Image® in 1993 and today the agency is recognized as one of the country’s top 25 technology public relations firms, according to O’Dwyer’s Public Relations Report. SmithBucklin acquired the agency in 2007 and Nikolich continued to serve as president of the agency until becoming chief marketing officer (CMO) of SmithBucklin in September 2009. As CMO, Nikolich is responsible for SmithBucklin’s internal and external communications, including advertising, branding, corporate communications, marketing, messaging, public relations and sales support. Nikolich has worked in public relations since 1979 and was honored by iStreet Magazine as one of Chicago’s top 100 technology professionals. He was also named one of Chicago’s Internet pioneers by the Chicago Sun-Times. Under his leadership, Tech Image was named “Best Boutique PR Agency to Work for” two consecutive years by The Holmes Report. The agency also was honored as one of the country’s most influential technology public relations in an independent survey of 300 technology journalists conducted by PRSourcecode. Nikolich has worked on the agency side his entire career, previously serving as a senior vice president at Chicago public relations firm Selz Seabolt Communications. Additional agency experience includes Grey-North Advertising, McKinney Mid-America and William Hart Adler. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and journalism from Northern Illinois University (NIU) and is a member of the NIU Alumni Board. During 2002 and 2003, he served on advisory boards for the Midwest Entrepreneurs’ Forum and Sales and Marketing Executives of Chicago and in 2005 was chairman of the Technology Practice for the WORLDCOM Public Relations Group, the leading global network of independent public relations firms. |
